Irarakandy

Located just off the coast near Nilaveli, the Irakkandy wreck lies at a shallow depth of 6–10 m, making it accessible for both beginner and experienced divers. The ship, believed to be an old European steamship, sank many years ago and is now encrusted with corals, creating a thriving artificial reef. Divers can explore the remains of the hull and scattered structures while observing a variety of marine life, including reef fish, soft corals, and anemones. With calm waters and good visibility, Irakkandy offers a safe and fascinating dive experience for those interested in history and underwater exploration.

Sithanane Pare is a shallow reef dive site near Nilaveli, just a short boat ride from the beach. With depths ranging from around 5m to 18m, it is ideal for beginners, students, and fun divers. The site features rocky reef formations covered with both soft and hard corals, supporting a variety of marine life such as reef fish, moray eels, and occasionally turtles. A special highlight of this site is the colorful Christmas tree worms, which add vibrant detail to the reef. Need to dive more time to observe all things because that is a quite large surface with very beautiful corals and many reef fishes. Not even that most of time Coffin Ra, Blue Spotted Sting Ray, Giant Ray, Panther Torpedo Ray can be seen very easily. There is large Anemone found in here too with many great views. Not even that Giant Moray Eel also nested in this giant rocky surface. Also, there found Schools of fish with eels, rays, barracuda and lionfish with many more coral fishes can be commonly spotted in here. The visibility also most of the time good in there that highly effective to have a great vast spread reef.
